Our first step is to build our pilot program. We have already taken the steps to scout land that would be viable for the purchase of our first Ark Community. The goal now is to raise money to actually purchase the land that the local housing authority would approve.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is portrayed as a pyramid, with the largest, most essential needs at the foundation and the need for self-actualization at the peak. The foundational needs include esteem, love, security, and physical needs (food, shelter, water, warmth). These needs must first be met for an individual to ascend the pyramid to higher level of needs, allowing them to be motivated towards constant betterment.
Disenfranchised individuals, facing the constant fear and dangers of uncertain shelter, unknown food sources and little water or health safety make satisfying these most essential needs nearly impossible. Sherry’s Ark’s aim is to offer the first, most essential needs to all residents: food, water, clothing, shelter, and most importantly, dignity. While transitional housing and other non-permanent support options are valiant and ensure some of these needs are temporarily met, Sherry’s Ark goes a step beyond to empower their residents with a desire to learn, an inspiration to work with the opportunities providing the tools to create and achieve success.
